MUSC Can’t Spare Any Change

Rex Calls for Four-Day School Week, Reduced Testing

State agencies were told to look in every nook and cranny to find a little extra money to make up for the state’s $500 million shortfall. Education Superintendent Jim Rex was, by far, the most inventive.

Mystery Push Poll in District 115

Two residents in District 115, including James Island and Folly Beach, say they have received a push poll with the pollster making at least one false assertion about Democratic candidate Anne Peterson-Hutto. Bobby Harrell, Lindsey Graham Return to Obama Attack Ads

Obama has a new ad up in North Carolina and it’s using the same footage from a previous ad that has McCain walking into a press conference with Bobby Harrell and Lindsey Graham behind him.
As the clip is running, the narrator says jobs were shipped overseas, “With the help of politicians like John McCain.”

New Census Numbers on Foreigners, Foreign Speakers, and Yankee Neighbors

The Census has released a few new state breakdowns:
• South Carolina is ranked 34th among states in regards to foreign born residents. We’re at 4.3 percent. North Carolina is at 7 percent and Georgia is at 9.1 percent.
