A quick look at the records of the past three seasons suggests that this year’s tropical weather is already ahead of 2006 and 2007 numbers.

robin_resized.jpgAs of Wednesday, July 23, Dolly is expected to be hurricane strength and heading toward the Texas border.

In 2007, it was another three weeks (Aug. 16) before the fourth named storm, Dean, became a hurricane.  The year before that, Tropical Storm Debby wasn’t named until Aug. 22.

But, in the busy 2005 season that brought Katrina, the Atlantic was facing it’s seventh named storm as of July 23. So, in a scale of good to bad (using the Batman movies) — we’re at threat level Batman Forever.
