Uh oh. Last night’s win by Democrats in a Mississippi special election for a long-time Republican Congressional seat was the third in this election cycle and has GOP leaders shaking in their boots. The district went to Bush by 60 percent in 2000 and 63 percent in ‘04.
Rep. Tom Cole, the chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee, is worried.
“The political environment is such that voters remain pessimistic about the direction of the country and the Republican Party in general. Therefore, Republicans must undertake bold efforts to define a forward looking agenda that offers the kind of positive change voters are looking for. This is something we can do in cooperation with our Presidential nominee, but time is short.
“I encourage all Republican candidates, whether incumbents or challengers, to take stock of their campaigns and position themselves for challenging campaigns this fall by building the financial resources and grassroots networks that offer them the opportunity and ability to communicate, energize and turn out voters this election.”

You have a congressional candidate who is challenging the stagnant status quo whose career as an engineer/business owner is spent actually understanding and solving the complex issues we are facing right now, but no one will do a debate so that the people can hear him–by no one I mean the Republican Party and assorted clubs!! There’s too much info to simply stick on a sign or put on a flyer. People need to hear the passion! Our country is in too much trouble to vote according to the color of our skin, our sex, or our party affiliation. We need to vote on someone based on their ability to do the job. The Republican Party would not be in such a mess if they would quit clinging to inept incumbents and back someone who can do the job and do the job well. The incumbent in District 1 won’t even show up at a Republican function or return a phone call of one of the other candidates! How can you represent the people when you won’t even see or speak to the people? The world has changed in the last 10 years. We need to get rid of the good old boys club and replace them with new blood that will save the American Dream before it’s lost completely. Vote for someone who can actually do something in Washington or kiss your kids’ futures in the America we knew goodbye. Check out http://www.PaulNorrisForCongress.com
