Apparently FOX News was salivating at the idea that Chelsea Clinton had left a fourth grader’s campaign question unanswered because the little girl had a press badge. They sent a car after the girl and put her on TV in an effort to trash the former first daughter.
She has interviewed numerous candidates, and she approached Chelsea with a question: whether former President Bill Clinton would make a good “first man” in the White House.
But Chelsea told her she does not talk to the press, and, according to The Associated Press, added: “and that applies to you, unfortunately, even though I think you’re cute.”
The story became big news on anti-Clinton blogs and today, Fox News sent a car to drive Sydney and her mother the two hours to Des Moines for an interview, where commentators proceeded to criticize Chelsea and accuse her of “dissing” the fourth-grader.
If you can believe it, FOX exaggerated the story and has little Sydney rethinking her career path.
“It was a bunch of lies,” Sydney said of the television coverage and the blogs. “Chelsea didn’t shun me, and she was actually really nice, but they put on that she was really mean.”
She said that she had asked Chelsea if she could take a picture with her. “She said, ‘Sure, I’d love that,’ and then she saw my press pass and said, ‘but I can’t answer any questions because you’re press.’”
What did Sydney think of her answer? “She treated me like I was a member of the press, and that’s okay because that’s how I wanted to be treated,” Sydney said. “I really didn’t mind.”
But now she is reconsidering her career. “I don’t want to be like those people,” she said.

It would seem young Sydney has a better moral compass and is more mature than the alleged grown-ups at FOX News.
In politics, people play their best card, which often reveals just how little they have to offer. For Rudy, it’s 9/11. For Hillary, it’s Bill or occasionally her sex. Barack’s black. Huckabee’s a preacher, and so on.
For the Democratic Party, their current platform is that they hate Bush (which isn’t a bad platform these days and certainly not unwarranted). The differences between a Bush and a Hillary are petty and trivial, but the dynamic serves it’s purpose and makes the rubes happy.
If the Iraq war was just or even successful, the Republican Party might have that. They don’t. All they have is hating the Clintons, retreading stale 90’s politics, with Hillary being an even more salacious target than Bill. Sean Hannity’s entire 3-hour radio program is themed the “Stop Hillary Express” each night, and like their Dem counterparts, it keeps the GOP rubes happy.
FOX News is the Republican news network, in much the same way Republicans used to complain about CNN being the “Clinton News Network.”
In going after Chelsea Clinton, FOX News were doing their political duty. That it comes off as shallow and vicious, should tell you all you need to know about FOX News and the Republican Party.
You know if a daughter who is her late 20’s is out on the campaign trail then she should answer questions. If Clinton does not want her daughter to be interviewed why not tell her to remain home. I don’t consider her a child but a woman. She should not only answer a 9 year old but all reporters.
