Long ago, gay men gave up discreet encounters in public restrooms as the Internet provided a more alluring way to hook-up. But fear not, apparently Republican closet cases are filling the gap.
First, Florida legislator Bob Allen was arrested for allegedly offering to give an undercover cop a blowjob:
“Mr. Allen stated that he then left his stall and knocked on officer Kavanaugh’s stall and asked if he was alright,” the affidavit reads. “Mr. Allen told me that Officer Kavanaugh said, “Yes, what are you up to?” Mr. Allen replied, ‘This is a public place’ and ‘This ain’t safe.’ Mr. Allen then said that office Kavanaugh said, ‘What do you have in mind?’ and then mentioned ‘twenty dollars.’”
Another notable detail is Allen’s claim that he asked the officer to get in the car with him and offered to perform oral sex because he feared he was going to be robbed. Allen said he wanted to reach a guard shack at the nearby Space Center.
Now, a Sen. Larry Craig from Idaho, a fellow Republican, was arrested for apparently playing footsie, then the porn music started:
Craig stated “that he has a wide stance when going to the bathroom and that his foot may have touched mine,” the report states. Craig also told the arresting officer that he reached down with his right hand to pick up a piece of paper that was on the floor.
“It should be noted that there was not a piece of paper on the bathroom floor, nor did Craig pick up a piece of paper.”
